"I’ve always believed that everything that is said from authority
is either the authority of one’s own heart, one’s own brain, one’s
own reading, one’s own trust, but not the authority of someone who
claims it because they’re speaking for God and they know the truth
because it’s written in a book. That, essentially, is where I come
from. In a sense, tolerance is my religion. Reason is my religion."

In Case You Missed It of the Day: An unidentified homeless man is fighting for his life after his face was nearly eaten off by a naked attacker Saturday on a downtown highway ramp in Miami.
The attacker has been identified as Rudy Eugene, a 31-year-old homeless man. Some are speculating that he may have been high on LSD.
“He was ripping into his face with his teeth,” said Miami resident Larry Vega, who witnessed the attack. “He was ripping his skin, his neck. He had him held down. The guy couldn’t move really, and he was just tearing into his flesh. … You see these things in the movies, but when you see it up front and up close, it’s pretty traumatic. It really is.”
When a police officer approached and told Eugene to get off his victim, Eugene just kept chewing. The officer fired a warning shot, but Eugene ”just stood… with pieces of flesh in his mouth and he growled,” Vega said.
The officer then shot and killed Eugene.
As for the unfortunate victim, “much of his face was gone, the skin ripped away, the nose bitten and the eyes gouged,” according to the Miami Herald. He is in critical condition.
“We’re hoping that he pulls through, for his well-being, but also so he can tell us what happened,” said Sgt. Javier Ortiz, of the Miami police union. “Only he knows.”

“CIA claimed to have executed a perfect strike that killed nine militants near Pakistan-Afghanistan border. But British and Pakistani journalists on the ground reported that the strikes killed at least 18, including six innocent civilians.
The CIA in fact said that drone strikes didn’t kill a single civilian in 2011, a claim almost no one believes.”
I don’t know how many times this point needs to be emphasized, but the government lies to us all, and people just sit there lapping up their lies like puppets. get it together people. open your eyes. How many people need to be killed before we put an end to this. You never hear people angry over drone strikes. The media barely even talks about them, unless of course they’ve managed to get one of the “big guys” behind “terrorist operations.” But the moment someone takes away your right to marry or etc and everyone is up in flames with pitchforks. Yeah, those are important causes too, but so is this.
The article goes on to say “The CIA since mid-2008 has executed about 200 strikes, killing roughly 1,300 militants and 30 non-combatants.” According to today’s Times report, another administration official put the number of civilian deaths since Obama took office “in the single digits.”
Complete and utter bullshit.
“The media’s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power. Because they control the minds of the masses.” - Malcolm X

Obama doesn’t actually have that much control over the CIA, or the military. He’s Commander in Chief, but that really only means he gets to decide if we go to war, and approve certain military development projects, like working on drones. Drones do save hundreds of soldier’s lives, but the military is using them excessively and improperly, probably without the direct and clear permission from the president. Most presidents nowadays have zero military experience, and are happy to leave the war-making to those with more experience. As the election nears, however, the president ends up thinking almost singularly about what issues the people of America care about so he can appeal to them to grant him a second term. Unfortunately, the American public is widely misinformed and/or under informed, and because of that, this issue takes a back seat to other, more nonsensical problems. Besides, in the majority of American’s eyes, Entire Middle East=Terrorists, so if Obama even showed remorse for this, especially after news outlets reported that there was barely any problems, he would be chewed out and cast out. It’s a difficult position to be in, choosing which problems to care more about, or having someone else choose for you.
